What are the requirements for going Solar?

The Solar industry is experiencing exponential growth, we are in the middle of the solar boom as we speak, and going Solar has never been easier.

How can you get started?

Elegant Solar is helping families go solar all across the country. Our goal is to make this process as smooth as possible, and take all the burden off of your hands.

These programs and funding were established to make it easier and affordable to go solar.

Let’s be real, renewable energy is the future.  It is clean, affordable, and easy to produce. However putting a wind turbine in the middle of your yard doesn’t sound too appealing, that’s why most homeowners prefer Solar energy. On top of the fact that it’s easy to install, it’s already been proven to work for the right home.

However,  before we install the Solar System on your home, there are a few things we need to consider, since we need to know if your home qualifies for the program.

Here are some of the aspects we consider:

Do you have enough roof space?

During your SunTest, we will determine how many Kilowatts your system needs to produce in order to cover your energy needs. We have to make sure you have enough space on your roof to fit the amount panels needed in order to offset your home’s consumption.

So, the power you generate in your home is directly proportional to the size of your roof where the panels can be installed.

The roof should not be under shade, some trees are okay, but if they are blocking most of the sunny spots on your home, you probably are not a good candidate for Solar.

The sunniest parts of your roof are the South and West sides of the home. If you have trees blocking both of those areas, that might be a disqualifier; but don’t be so quick to rule yourself out yet, get a free, no obligation SunTest to know for sure.

How old is your roof?

This is yet another factor we consider. When our team comes to do the Site Survey, they are determining if your roof is in good enough condition to last for the next 20-25 years.

We want to make sure the roof can sustain the weight of the panels for over a long period of time. If there are any leakages or slight damages, then we need to address those needs before we get started. Once the system is installed and running, your warranties will kick in. However we only warranty roofs that have passed our initial inspection!

Have a good credit score

Every program is a little different when it involves credit score. Ideally,  your score should be approximately 650 or higher. Having a credit score lower than 650 is not a disqualifier with some programs, but generally speaking we are shooting for close to that range. We run soft credit checks that do not affect your credit score. We also work with credit repair companies so if your credit is within 5-50 points, let us see if we can help before disqualifying yourself.

Do you qualify?

So now that you understand the qualifications based on the factors above, do you qualify for Solar? Whether you think you do or not, feel free to reach out to us with any questions you have.  We enjoy what we do and we would love to address any questions or concerns you have.
